Position Summary
The Maintenance Plant Electrician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems associated with plant equipment. The successful candidate should be able to read electrical schematics, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems, and determine the appropriate maintenance or repair procedures.
This position also requires accurate maintenance documentation, coordination with production teams, preventive maintenance activities, and technical support for other maintenance technicians when needed.
Daily Tasks and Duties
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on plant electrical systems and equipment.
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical components and plant equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Examine and test equipment to identify electrical problems and determine required repairs.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues affecting production equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for maintenance activities.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Work with production teams to schedule and complete equipment and facility repairs.
- Monitor assigned equipment and ensure maintenance is completed in a timely manner.
- Follow workplace safety, food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Complete required safety, food safety, and personnel training.
- Provide technical guidance to other maintenance technicians when required.
- Promote safety, productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
Skills, Education and Experience
- Associate Degree is required.
- 3–5 years of experience in electrical work, robotics, automation, or a related field.
- Manufacturing maintenance experience is preferred.
- Food manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of PLCs and instrumentation.
- Understanding of electrical safety practices and NFPA 70E.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance procedures.
- Familiarity with maintenance work-order systems and parts tracking is beneficial.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Strong problem-solving and technical skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements
This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, often for more than eight hours during a shift. The job may involve reaching, bending, twisting, climbing, repetitive movements, and frequent use of hands and arms.
The employee may regularly need to lift and move items weighing up to approximately 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Candidates should have sufficient vision and physical ability to safely perform electrical maintenance duties.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position with an 8-hour shift. The exact work schedule may be determined by the employer according to production and maintenance requirements.
Work Environment
The position is based on a food manufacturing production floor. The work environment may have an average temperature of approximately 40°F, moderate noise, moving machinery, wet and dry areas, and fast-paced production operations.
