The farming operation includes approximately 2,200 hectares of irrigation, with further large-scale irrigation development currently underway. The business operates a diverse agricultural system combining irrigated cropping and livestock production.
Current cropping activities principally include cotton, with seasonal grain crops such as corn, chickpeas, wheat, and mung beans. Alongside the cropping operation, Hutchinson Ag manages a breeder herd of approximately 1,100 Droughtmaster/Santa cattle crossed with Angus and Charolais.
Hutchinson Ag is looking for up to five full-time Agri Technicians to support the continued development and expansion of the business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced agricultural professional who enjoys working across both cropping and livestock operations.
Position Summary
The Agri Technician will provide technical and practical support across the farm’s cropping and livestock activities. The successful candidates will work closely with Farm Managers, business owners, and Agronomists to help achieve productive, efficient, and sustainable farming outcomes.
Because Hutchinson Ag operates a mixed farming business, the position offers a broad range of responsibilities. Depending on operational requirements, duties may involve irrigation development, crop production, cattle health, animal husbandry, soil management, pest and disease control, and other agricultural activities.
The role is suited to an individual with strong practical agricultural knowledge and at least three years of relevant experience, particularly in irrigated farming, earthmoving, or mechanical fields.
Daily Tasks and Duties
- Provide technical support for daily cropping and livestock operations.
- Work closely with Farm Managers, owners, and Agronomists to achieve optimal farming outcomes.
- Monitor the health and welfare of cattle.
- Identify signs of animal illness, injury, or other health concerns.
- Assist with appropriate treatment of livestock health issues.
- Administer vaccinations and support preventative animal health programs.
- Monitor livestock nutritional requirements.
- Assist with cattle breeding programs and breeding activities.
- Monitor breeding cycles and assist with artificial insemination activities where required.
- Administer veterinary medicines according to farm procedures and professional instructions.

Skills, Education and Experience
